All Prophetic Manifestations ‘Revealed Even to the Least’

One of the most beautiful aspects of personal revelation and its power for members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is that all revelations that the prophet has can be revealed to and understood by even the most ordinary and normal of people including members of the Church.

Joseph Smith taught:

“God hath not revealed anything to Joseph, but what He will make known unto the Twelve, and even the least Saint may know all things as fast as he is able to bear them, for the day must come when no man need say to his neighbor, Know ye the Lord; for all shall know Him who, remain from the least to the greatest [see Jeremiah 31:34].”97

An example of this principle in action is found in the Book of Mormon. Nephi prayed to understand the revelatory dream of his father Lehi: one of God’s prophets at the time (1 Nephi 10:17–19). He received the same dream as his father and had an angel explain the meaning of the dream (1 Nephi 11).

The promise of these prophetic utterances and experiences is that all of God’s words can be understood by all of His children, no matter their education, race, gender, socioeconomic status, or other characteristics.
